Caption: hunting with Eagle. Golden eagle festival in Kazakh province. Bayan Ulgi Mongolia
The tournament participants come from all over Bayan Ulgii province in the extreme west of Mongolia, near the Kazaksthan border. They arrive dressed in colorful apparel, fur coats and headgear made from wolfskins. Each trainer carries a hooded eagle on their forearm, it's claws firmly planted in a leather glove or "bialai."

Kazakh province. The female eagle is heavier and more aggressive than her male counterpart and the training period long and brutal. The hoods that cover the eyes of these birds of prey are decorated with false eyes made out of coral, giving the illusion of the bird's eyes. The picture shows a close-up of the eagle's impressive claws.
