Budhist tsam dance mask, 19th century (Paper maché), monastery-museum of Tchoijin Lamyn, Ulan Bator). a character in the religious dance, This ritual was danced until the early 20th century, to destroy evil spirits and the enemies of Religion. It featured the major divinities of Lamaist Buddhism in a theatrical dance in the open air. Amongst these divinities is the stag, Shava, acolyte of the formidable god of hell, Erlig Qan (Monastery-museum of Tchoijin Lamyn Sum, Ulan Bator)
Masque du cerf SHAVA, (Monastère-musée de Tchoijin Lamyn Sum, Oulan Bator, Mongolie. personnage de la danse religieuse du TSAM. (Papier mâché, XIXème siècle). Pratiquée jusqu'au début du XXème siècle pour anéantir les mauvais esprits et les ennemis de la Religion, la danse cultuelle du TSAM mettait en scène les principales divinités du bouddhisme lamaïste, dans un jeu théâtral dansé en plein air. Parmi elles, la figure du cerf SHAVA, acolyte du redoutable dieu des enfers ERLIG QAN.
